The third season of Legends of Tomorrow will see a different twist for our time traveling friends. With Gorilla Grodd set to be a focus as a primary villain, the shows execs are also looking to add Matt Ryan’s Constantine as another focal character. The reason being is they will be a part of a bigger picture with the primary villain being occult based.
Phil Klemer, Showrunner, spoke with IGN about the development and how this season will be different from the first two:
“This is a non-human entity. This is a much more supernatural, spooky vibe this season. We’re dealing more with magic. It’s less real-world bad guys.“
Another twist for season three will be the emphasis on characters rather than events. We will be seeing famous people in history, but in times that are not their own. In other words, the events will be the same but will have different historical figures behind them. Season two simply saw famous events with their outcomes twisted about.
It will be curious to see how season three handles a magic based villain, as it is something entirely new to the series. The CW is also doing something similar with The Flash, as its primary villain is not a speedster for the first time.
Legends of Tomorrow Season 3 will air at 9 PM on Tuesdays beginning this October, and will air immediately after The Flash on the CW.
