What the what? It seems that Team Flash is going to have some camaraderie issues when it comes to rescuing Barry from the speed force in season 4 of The Flash. Carlos Valdes (Cisco Ramon) spoke to Entertainment Weekly recently and noted that there will be a lone detractor in their effort to save Barry.
Valdes noted that:
“I wish I could say that the team unanimously agrees that things are not the same when the season starts, but not everybody feels that way. Most of the energy on the team is toward getting Barry back, and Cisco may or may not have some things up his sleeve with regards with how to make that happen, but there is a member of the team that’s not on board, and that ultimately makes the mission to get Barry back a lot more difficult. But the thing about Cisco is if he wants to get his friends back, he will do whatever it takes the get his friends back — and that’s not just Barry.”
If you watched the Comic-con trailer for season 4, which we have below, you’ll notice that Iris is trying to put on the strong front in Barry’s absence. The quick guess is that it’s she who isn’t on point with rescuing Barry at first, but then turns it around a few episodes in. You can see that Iris is struggling. Despite saying she is fine, she is sleeping on the couch as it appears she can’t sleep in the bed without Barry. She is also turning pictures with Barry face down so she doesn’t have to look at his face. These are not the actions of a psychologically healthy person, and Iris may be going through a bit of PTSD.
This could be her way of dealing with it in the show, or we could be totally wrong and someone else is against it. Either way, the thought of someone not wanting to rescue Barry after what he went through to save them is a little odd, and it’s definitely not in tune with what we are used to. Could this be what was referred to as the emotional Arrowverse crossover coming this season? We’ll have to wait until October to find out when The Flash returns Tuesday, October 10th at 8 PM.
