Arnold Schwarzenegger’s 1994 movie True Lies is getting a TV series reboot coming to FOX. The show is set to feature one hour long episodes, with the pilot episode being directed by McG (Joseph McGinty) and Marc Guggenheim according to Deadline.
McG will serve as director while Guggenheim will pen the series. Both will also serve as Producers along with James Cameron, the director of the original film. There is currently no release or actor information for the series, and we also don’t know if it will be simply called ‘True Lies’ or feature a subtitle. McG directed the Lethal Weapon TV series pilot, which was successful enough to earn a season series order as well as a second season.
Guggenheim is currently working on the CW as Producer on Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow as well. Both shows will start their sixth and third seasons respectively. The original True Lies film was received very well in theaters. In case you’re unaware, it covers the story of Harry Tasker (Schwarzenegger) as a veteran FBI agent. He is married to Jamie Lee Curtis and must balance is home life with being a spy as his wife is none the wiser. Tom Arnold and Bill Paxton also starred in the film.
It will be interesting to see who they choose for the roles in the series, and we’ll keep you up to date on release information as we hear it. Who would you like to see in the show? Let us know below.
