Now that our Spring 2017 Television Preview is up, it is only natural for us to rank our top picks for the season.  This week’s Top 10 Tuesday will explore our anticipation for shows debuting or returning between the months of March and May in 2017.  We will only be counting shows with hard premiere dates.  Over time, our preview will be updated as new dates are announced for even more shows coming in the Spring.  Though we will update the Spring preview, we will not be updating this list, even if a show is added that would take over our very top spot on the list, had it been included.  So, without further ado, here are our picks for the most anticipated shows of the Spring 2017 TV season, that we know of at this time.

10. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt

No particular aspect of the upcoming 3rd season of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt has us particularly sold on the season itself.  That being said, it is more Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt , and that, in itself, is, quite honestly, more than enough to excite us.  We could always use more of that relentless positivity in our lives.

09. Sense8

After a strong and emotional run for its 1st season, Sense8 returned for a somewhat disappointing Christmas special at the end of last year.  We are hoping for more from the proper second season.  All of the pieces are in place for another fantastic season.  We only have to wait, though thankfully, the wait is not long.

08. Making History

Time-travel has been huge this past season, with seemingly every channel and streaming service exploring the science fiction trope.  This time-travel series, however, stands apart from the mass of others by the nature of its genre, as a comedy.  The trailers look hilarious, and make us want to travel back with our protagonists, so long as we are armed with lots of ham.

07. iZombie

Last season of iZombie ended with a huge game changer, and we have been eagerly anticipating its return, ever since.  We have questions we need answers to, and we have developments that we anticipate.  Thankfully, the wait is almost over, and this very different take on the zombie story is set to be a significant part of our weekly TV show watching routine.

06. Silicon Valley

routinely the funniest show on TV, when it is on TV, Silicon Valley returns for the first time without its Game of Thrones lead in.  Thankfully, the series has grown beyond the need of such a heavy hitting network mate.  The series has become increasingly iconic as a sometimes horrifyingly accurate, and always hilarious apt, portrayal of the tech industry.

05. The Leftovers

Season 3 of HBO’s The Leftovers once again takes our cast of characters to a new location.  This time, Australia, where Kevin’s father moved to in order to follow fate’s calling.  Season 2 of The Leftovers was such a marked improvement over the flawed first season, and had such an amazing surprise at its end that we are eager to see what season 3 will bring us, when we head to the land down under.  All eyes are on Showrunner Damon Lindelof (LOST), as he prepares to end yet another ambitious and iconic series.

04. Attack on Titan

It has been more than 2 years since the conclusion of Attack on Titan‘s 1st season.  While the 10 month wait for shows like Game of Thrones to return is brutal, it is nothing, when compared to the wait fans have had for a second season of the most popular anime in the past decade.  Season 1 ended on a high with a deepening plot, and a shocking hint towards bigger reveals to come.  Season 2 looks to expand in both scale and density.  We cannot wait.

03. Better Call Saul

Better Call Saul Showrunner Vince Gilligan, is one of the most distinct and worthwhile voices in original scripted television today.  As such, it is an absolute no brainier that we are excited for the return of his Breaking Bad prequel/spin-off series, Better Call Saul.  If that wasn’t enough reason to be excited, this season, Saul, which has already established itself as a great TV drama in its own right, is bringing back one of the most iconic characters of Breaking Bad‘s entire run.  Welcome back, Gus Fring.

02. Twin Peaks

The only thing holding back the upcoming Twin Peaks continuation from the very top spot of this list is our anxiety over how the series will hold up to the original series, which ended over 25 years ago.  Twin Peaks was our first Show Club discussion, even before we had a podcast, and the series holds a special place in our hearts.  We await the new season with equal parts excitement and trepidation.  It is crazy to think that in only 2 and half months we can sit down in front of our TVs with a slice of pie, a damn fine cup of coffee, and new episodes of Twin Peaks.

01. Marvel’s Iron Fist

While we await Twin Peaks with both excitement and trepidation, we await Iron Fist with only extreme excitement, more than we have had for any of the other Marvel Netflix series.  Iron Fist is both the last of the solo Defenders series before the team up The Defenders show, and the series of the 4 that we were most excited for from the very beginning.  On top of that excitement, the principal cast of Iron Fist even holds 2 prominent Game of Thrones alumni, including the man playing the titular character himself.  More than anything, though, it is the element of magic (and martial arts) in the MCU that we are so excited for, as we were for last years Doctor Strange on the movie side, and this season’s Ghost Rider episodes of Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD.  We simply cannot wait!
